2 Injured At Car Wash Shooting

Two people are recovering at Allegheny General Hospital Friday morning after being shot with an assault rifle overnight.

Shots were fired at TP Qwik Car Wash on Campbells Run Road in Collier Township just after midnight. Police said the driver was shot in the shoulder. The bullet then passed through and hit the passenger in the calf. According to officials, they drove to Smoky Bones in Robinson Township for help. The victims’ names and conditions are not being released. Police do not have any suspects.

Vick dogfighting co-defendant pleads guilty

A co-defendant in the federal dogfighting case against Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty Monday morning.

Tony Taylor has also agreed to cooperate fully with the government. He will be sentenced on December 14 and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison, fined $250,000 and put on three years supervised release, according to court documents filed Monday in Richmond. Continue reading

Man Killed In Elizabeth Township

Police are looking into a fatal shooting in Elizabeth. Investigators were called to the scene along Pitt Street around 2:30 a.m. Monday. The victim’s name has not been released. Police are not saying whether they have any suspects.

More than 100 homeless after fire

An electrical problem caused a huge fire at a suburban apartment complex, leaving more than 100 people homeless, investigators said Saturday. No injuries were reported.

The five-alarm blaze Friday began at the west end of the South Grand Apartments in Channelview, just east of Houston, officials said.

It took firefighters about five hours to extinguish the blaze, which destroyed 92 units, said Michael Battise, chief of the Cloverleaf Volunteer Fire Department, one of 10 departments that worked to put it out.

Pilots killed at two air shows

A biplane stunt pilot died after he crashed in front of thousands of spectators during a Dayton, Ohio, air show Saturday, a day after another pilot was killed during an air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

WHIO-TV reported pilot Jim LeRoy of Billings, Montana, died on the way to the hospital after his S2S Bulldog biplane crashed at the end of a runway at Dayton International Airport in Ohio. Continue reading

Missing Sewer Worker Found Dead

Recovery crews found the body of a missing sewer worker in the Mississippi River a day after he and another man were caught deep below the city’s streets during a heavy rain.

The body of Dave Yasis, 23, of Maplewood was found at about 6 p.m. Friday about 15 feet from where a sewer line drains into the river, Ramsey County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Joe Paget said.

The search for the man Yasis was working with, 34-year-old Joe Harlow of Plainview, was set to resume early Saturday. Continue reading
